Qodea CEO Tom Ray reflects on the journey towards adopting our new company name, the meaning behind it and what comes next.

When Appsbroker and CTS were founded in 2009, cloud technology was still in its infancy. While the concept of cloud quickly caught the public imagination, traditional data centres and server rooms were still the reality, restricting data sharing, hindering collaboration and stymieing innovation.

How the world has changed in such a short amount of time. The evolution of cloud technology, from the launch of Amazon S3 in 2007, to where we are today, has been nothing short of transformative. Cloud has sparked a digital world of creativity, a rich toolkit from which to build innovative and exciting new products and services, all powered by the ability to write it as code.

In the words of a famous Canadian rock band, however, “we ain’t seen nothing yet”. We’re standing on the precipice of an AI revolution - what many call the second industrial revolution - and it’s already transforming how we work and live our lives. Cloud has been, and will continue to be, the bedrock of that transformative revolution.

Qodea - what’s in a name?

Appsbroker and CTS merged in 2023, becoming Europe's largest Google Premier only transformation partner. We joined forces with one, clear mission: to help organisations unlock the technologies they know in ways they’ve never imagined.

Over fifteen years, both companies have supported major players across the finance, manufacturing, retail, telco and public sectors on their cloud journeys. These include: DPD, Travis Perkins, BT Group, GSK, Booking.com and Sky, to name a few. In the last decade, we’ve spread wings across Europe, with our expert teams based in the Netherlands and Romania supporting an ever more diverse range of organisations, from airlines to a children’s cancer hospital.

Building on this strong legacy, we now look to the future, as one company, with one name: Qodea.

Combining the words ‘code’ and ‘idea’, our new name embodies the essence of who we are and what we do; providing tried and trusted digital solutions, whilst helping our clients look to the future and innovate.

One brand, one clear focus

Drawing on the unique blend of expertise and experience of our people, stretching from Manchester, to Utrecht to Iași, we’ve built three, interlinked capabilities to help organisations unlock the potential of Google cloud technologies.

The first of these is Security & Infrastructure. The recent Crowdstrike outage was a stark reminder of just how dependent we are on compute infrastructure. From fully managed services, to AI-enabled security operations (Secops), it’s crucial for organisations to lay solid foundations so they can enjoy the full potential of digital technologies securely. In much the same way that a house built on solid foundations will weather any storm, organisations that invest in the right security measures and infrastructure are far better able to respond to, and recover from, global incidents on the scale of what we saw earlier this year.

Closely related is Data Activation and AI. Organisations, ranging from banks, to hospitals to high street retailers, are sitting on huge goldmines of data, which could hold the key to the next innovative product or breakthrough. If you’re not putting data to good use, however, you can only ever be sure of one thing: you’re missing out on some incredible opportunities. As third-party data becomes less available and less valuable, the unique first-party data you collect can give you a crucial competitive edge. In the age of AI, first-party data is key to creating the hyper-personalised experiences customers increasingly expect, as well as optimising operations, reducing commercial risk and boosting your bottom line.

Modernisation & Innovation. As more and more organisations begin to mine the data goldmine, the opportunities will be endless, from saving money, to driving productivity (think: new / modernised digital apps), to creating entirely new ways to collaborate (think: Google Workspace). Before you dive head first into the deep waters of digital transformation, however, it is vital to have a clear idea of where you are right now on your data maturity journey - and what you want to see on the horizon. Data - and the tools to exploit it - will only deliver genuine value if you have a clear sense of what you want to achieve. For this reason, it’s vital to take a measured, ideated approach to modernisation and innovation; one that is carefully aligned to your aims and objectives. In other words, look before you leap.

Ready to unlock your potential?

The breakneck pace of technological advancement - set to be turbocharged by AI - is both exciting and daunting in equal measures. Business leaders across every sector are eager to understand how they can ride the wave of the AI revolution, continue to innovate and stay relevant in a rapidly changing world.

In the face of such uncertainty, a good place to start is unlocking the power of the technologies you already know in ways you haven’t yet imagined. There’s already a world of untapped opportunities at your fingertips and we at Qodea are ready to help you unlock it, as we’ve done for many other organisations over the past two decades.

Our team is ready to help organisations unlock the technologies you know in ways you’ve never imagined.

KiC, Tom.
